The problem both of us are having is that when we go on a getaway, all of us have a hard time finding restaurants that offer dairy free alternatives. Last week, our family all got together in the city. We rented a huge house that sleeps numerous people. Since all of us were ordering our meals online, all of us thought we would find it easier to find dairy free meals. We found one restaurant that specialized in eggless options. My son plus his partner could order meals online separate from putting the rest of us out. They bought their eggless meals and impossible meat burgers, while both of us ordered meals online that included meat and no eggs. I wasn’t a large egg eater, even though I loved some of the fresh meals ordered online that were egg free. I was delighted that all of us could order meals online. It gave our family more time to laugh plus enjoy each others’ supplier. When you are a family that is scattered on the east coast, west coast, in the middle of the continent, north plus south, it’s difficult to get together. We visited multiple restaurants, but all of us weren’t able to be quiet enough to match their subdued atmosphere. The ability to order meals online was much better for us. We could toss the need to rest and eat quietly while being ourselves, when both of us were dining in the apartment. I wish I lived in an area where both of us could enjoy the ability to order meals online. My fiance plus I would not argue over who was cooking.

During the covid virus, all of us lost a lot of our independence plus the ability to go all over the globe. We depended on my meal prep for at least multiple months. We were able to go to town and purchase groceries, since both of us were over the age limit. We could go into the grocery store at 7AM plus do our shopping with little worry of contracting the virus. There were no places open plus no place to purchase fast food. I’m an okay cook, even though I don’t enjoy cooking and my fiance can’t cook well enough to save his life. If both of us had to depend on his cooking to keep us alive, both of us would not be alive much longer. His plan of cooking is throwing eggs in a pan plus bread in the toaster. I can only eat these every so often. Then I found out that some of the restaurants were opening, however only for takeout. Not only did they offer take out, but they gave local food delivery that was touch-free. You had to supply the restaurant with your debit card. The people who handled the local food delivery would ring the doorbell plus then get back in their car. It wasn’t until you came to the door that they would leave. Thanks to local food delivery, I was able to get a break from cooking, about once a week. This gave myself and my partner the ability to take a split from cooking plus to keep my partner from destroying my arteries. I didn’t know they would come up with local food delivery, however I’m delighted I found out about it.

Eventually I will need to replace our heating and cooling system.

The unit is 18 years old and makes a horrible, high pitched whistle noise from outside.

The outdoor unit sounds like it is screaming occasionally. It is difficult being outside when it does this. I called the local HVAC company and got the unit totally cleaned. I even replaced parts on the machine the HVAC tech recommended. I did everything I could think of. The guy finally admitted that unless I wanted to replace the whole unit, no more repairs could be made. I did some research online and my brand of HVAC is known to be quite loud. Additionally, the year my HVAC came out was also said to make the whistle sound. I found others online that suffer from the same issues as I do. They have done all the cleanings, oilings and tightening of parts like I did. Nobody has been able to fix the issue. So I now need to just endure a loud machine and wait for it to die. Once it quits, I can get a new HVAC system that is totally quiet. I refuse to change my heater and a/c out until it dies though. The system works perfectly fine. If you are inside the house you don’t even notice the whistle sound. I am hesitant to entertain people outdoors though due to the noise. It is so loud, awful and embarrassing. Right where I would seat people is where the HVAC is located too. It would be hard to talk over it.

When my husband and I started remodeling our home I had to budget everything carefully.

The problem is that I wanted top of the line everything.

When it came to the kitchen, I didn’t want to skimp on a fridge or stove. I didn’t want to have cheap lights, but recessed ones. Everything I purchased was of good quality and high end. I then exceeded my budget before it came time to replace our current heating and air system. Thankfully the HVAC hadn’t died yet, but was on its way out. Originally I wanted to get a ductless mini split system and put indoor air handlers in each room. I wanted to have a smart thermostat linked up and that meant I could have zone control. Every room would have its own heating and AC different from the others. I read that it is very efficient and convenient. However, after spending so much money throughout the money, accruing enough to get a zone control capable system wouldn’t have been easy. I debated on financing that the local HVAC company offered. Instead, I chose to get a bascia central HVAC system when the current unit died. Now I live with it day in and day out and I regret it. I should have waited or even went without HVAC in order to get the one I want. Now I am stuck around 15-20 years with a system that isn’t exactly what I envisioned for my home. It does the job, but I don’t really like it.

I replaced my thermostat initially because it was super ugly.

When my husband and I first moved in we did a lot of updates. The hallway I really tackled. I sanded every door and painted them. I replaced the door handles and switch plates with silver ones. I also painted the hallway walls and the ceiling. Recessed lighting and a cool smoke detector were added. The last thing was the thermostat. Everything in the hallway was either white, light blue or silver. The beige thermostat really stood out in a bad way. I looked around online and I bought the smart thermostat strictly because I enjoyed how it looked. It had a silver surround and blue innerface. It looked really modern and would match my hallway. After my husband installed it we realized the smart thermostat is the top one available. It can do so many things. The thermostat first tells us the weather when we walk by and how temperature it is inside. I use that feature all of the time. It also can be controlled by any smart product like a phone or computer. I love laying in bed and messing with the thermostat if I need to. The thermostat learns what I like though. It has a heating and cooling program already set up based on how I messed with it. I don’t even have to turn it off when I leave the house since it scans for people and realizes no one is home. How cool is that? I lucked out that the pretty thermostat is the best one.

I never thought I would enjoy remodelling.

I never was a handy girl or interested in things like that.

Then I got a house of my own and started renovating it. I started small with just scraping popcorn ceilings, painting and sanding wood furniture. Now my skills have widened. I now can gut a room and tile without any assistance. I can put together furniture and even install lights. I am thinking about ripping up my living room carpet, adding cement board, then heated flooring and putting tile over top. I have done some research on the heated flooring installation. Everything I read online made it sound simple. It is just electric heated mats that go on top of the cement board. You can buy the mats from a local hardware store too. I don’t think I need to hire a HVAC contractor to do this heating installation job. I believe I can do it and save some money. It will be nice since I won’t have to wait around and time my floor remodel around a HVAC business. I really hope to get everything all installed in around two weeks. I already have the new tile and cement board. I just need to get the mats and tackle that project. I looked up worst case scenarios and the worst is not having a functional heated mat and tiling over top. I will just make sure to test every one before I seal it tight away. It will be so cool to have heated flooring in my living room.

Craig was in the middle of his second semester at school.

He loved attending online classes, which made it easier to combine his classes and graduate earlier. The fact that he was home alone was a big help. His parents had travelled for several months after retiring. Craig was at the kitchen counter one winter morning when everything stopped working. He went to check the circuit breaker and noticed it had been tripped. Craig turned it back on and went back to his studies. This happened two more times, and he opted to phone the AC company for assistance. He had noticed when the air conditioner was on, and it kept tripping the circuit breaker. The AC technician came to the house an hour later, much to Craig’s relief. The house was getting cold, so he had switched on a portable air conditioner. The HVAC company Craig had phoned had been there for many years. It was where his dad had gone to purchase the central cooling and heating system when they first moved there. Since then, the AC business gave them an excellent rate for annual HVAC maintenance. The AC expert got to work getting to the bottom of the matter. The issue was the condenser coil which had a layer of dirt and grime. It seemed Craig’s dad had forgotten to phone the HVAC business last fall. So they had skipped the annual fall HVAC maintenance to clean the different parts. It took some time to clean the condenser coil, unclog the drain pipes and wash the air filter. Once the air filter was dry, the air conditioner technician put everything back and turned the AC unit on. This time it didn’t trip the circuit breaker. Craig thanked him for the excellent work and walked him to the door before resuming his studies.

When our grandmother got sick, we all opted to leave the farm and visit her.

We left one worker in charge and hoped to return on time. There was plenty to do, but we had to visit her in the hospital and spend time with our grandfather. My dad made sure all the animals had plenty of food, and the AC systems were working. Since we had a zero-grazing dairy farm, the cows never went outside. It was a better system that kept them safe and healthy. No one had anticipated the trip would take longer than a couple of days. We ended up staying for two weeks when her condition got worse. That’s when the heatwave came and overwhelmed the air conditioning at the farm. Our farm worker had left the farm early that morning when the AC system shut down. The cows were in distress because it got too hot in the barns. Two animals passed away due to heat exhaustion which was a considerable loss. By the time the worker got back to the farm, it was too late to save the cows. He phoned dad and told him the bad news, which sent my dad overboard. Dad was furious and had to drive back home the same day. We would join him the next day after saying goodbye to grandma. On his journey back, dad phoned the AC company for help and opted to pay an extra fee for emergency HVAC services. He couldn’t imagine losing any more animals at the farm. Two cows were a big enough loss to endure. When he got to the farm, the worker was nowhere to be found. The AC mechanics were already on sight, and dad had directed them via phone to where the barn AC was located. They noticed the electric control had been overwhelmed when the worker cranked up the cooling unit. That’s why the air conditioner had stopped working.

My best friend from college and I decided to put our money together to start a business. Initially we wanted to create a diner, but the pandemic changed our minds about the viability of the food service industry. We watched restaurants all over our city close overnight and it was a shocking experience. Although many returned with carry-out and delivery programs, the blow to the food industry will take years to recover from. It’s hard because we all eat and it remains one of the most important essential industries in the entire world. Instead of going into restaurants and dining, we went into the cannabis growing industry. We jumped into a new state’s fledgling legal cannabis industry before other companies could dominate the field. To get started quickly, we didn’t bother building a cultivation facility from the ground up, nor did we want to make permanent retrofitting modifications to an existing building. We avoided all of these costs by getting modular growing facilities. These kits come with everything you need to make an indoor greenhouse for countless plants. Aside from modular growing equipment, we also have modular offices and modular kitchens for processing cannabis plants to create a variety of different kinds of edibles. It’s nice to see the early success we’re getting from making the right choices early on with how we invested our start-up money for growing and cultivating marijuana. I spent a mint on my new living room rug. I wanted a plush, maroon rug to tie in my grey furniture and wood ceilings. I got the best possible fabric and it was custom made to my room. The rug is so soft, brightly colored and is just a showpiece. Everyone who comes into my house notices the rug and comments on it. I will admit, I am a little weird about it. I vacuum and steam clean the rug constantly. I don’t let anyone on the rug with dirty feet or slippers. I am trying my hardest to keep my cat from laying on it. I don’t want anything to damage such an expensive purchase. I realized recently that there are outdoor elements that will damage my rug. The living room windows let in lots of sunshine. During the day my rug gets blasted with sun. I looked online and the color can get affected with enough sun exposure. Of course not every inch and corner of the rug is getting hit too. I don’t want spots of deep maroon and others of faded red. I also don’t want to limit my sunlight and make it not as easy to see my carpet. So I am now using a window film and tint company to take care of my little program. They can put a decorative window tint to protect the house and rug from the sunshine. There were a variety of colors that you can see from the outside of the house. I got as close to clear as possible. From inside the house you can’t tell there is a tint. I can tell since my rug isn’t in so much sunshine anymore.
