It is amazing how something as small as temperature can affect everyone’s mood. It looked like it was going to be a beautiful day and that it would be a great time for a picnic. I hadn’t talked to my younger brother forever, and we used to go on picnics all of the time when we were young. I thought it would be a great time to catch up. I called him and he wasn’t busy, so he agreed to come over. I packed all of the needed supplies, and we met by a lake to enjoy the view and the picnic. At first, everything was going really well. My brother was cracking jokes and I was laughing at all of them. We skipped rocks in the lake and everything started off well. However, as the day continued on, the gentle rays of the sun suddenly started to burn. The temperatures increased, and even though the lake was supposed to help cool the area down, the humidity somehow made things much worse. I felt like I was suffocating, and my brother and I were both put in a bad mood. We started to bicker like kids, and then we went home. After I had cooled down thanks to my air conditioning system, I called my brother. My brother did the same thing when he went home. He also went and immediately turned on the cooling system and cooled down for a while. We made up and moved on. It just goes to show that without air conditioning, people can get grumpy really fast.

It is really important to have your climate control just right. You would be surprised at how something small like air conditioning can really affect your mood. I ended up learning this when my coworkers and I were at a meeting with our boss several years ago. He was going over a new policy, but it was pretty difficult to focus because of the lack of cooling in the small room. I could tell that I wasn’t the only one bothered by this, judging by the way everyone was fidgeting in their seats. It was probably at least 90 degrees outside and yet we had no A/C. I was so glad when that hour-long meeting was finally done. I went back to my nice HVAC zone controlled office. I basked in the air conditioning for quite awhile. When I was promoted to a manager and had to arrange some meetings myself, I never quite forgot that one meeting with my own boss. I knew if I wanted to keep the attention on the slideshow I would be presenting, I would have to have perfect temperatures. A local heating and A/C business rented out portable air conditioners for you to use. So I ended up renting out a portable HVAC system to keep the room cool while I was presenting. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and I could tell that I had everyone’s attention. Afterwards, I returned the handy little portable A/C device back, and I will probably be using those again in the future. I might even buy one myself.

My high school buddies and I were always talking about how we should meet up, how we should visit again and what not.

But in typical fashion, it never really happened.

Something would always come up last minute and prevent one of us from coming. Even if 3 of us were free, there would always be one of us that had something else to do. Whether it’s their kids, or a business meeting, our meetups were always postponed. It probably went on like this for several years until finally, we all scheduled a date to see each other. I held my breath because I kept expecting something to come up at the last minute, but it never did. We planned on having a party with food, drinks and games to make up for all of this. I arrived early, and greeted my friends. As if 10 years hadn’t passed, we hit it off just like good old times. We talked, laughed and reminisced on all of our old memories. I was probably there for 4 or 5 hours, and it was just so good to see them. However, I had to leave early because I started my new job tomorrow as a heating and A/C specialist. I recently became a certified HVAC technician, and now that I was finally hired at a cooling corporation, I wanted to make my best impression and arrive nice and early. My friends completely understood and were just glad that I got to spend time with all of them like old times. It really was good seeing them again.

Heating units, for me, are a must.

I get so cold so easily.

A lot of my family members have always brought up my ice cold feet, and my constant need to wear socks. But it wasn’t just my feet that were cold, my entire body became really cold, really easily. I often wore a jacket around the house. I ended up moving further south, which helped a little, but I still was cold often. Even though the area I live in now is not nearly as bad as the northern winters, I still went ahead and had a brand new central heater installed. When I met my boyfriend, he was the most kind and thoughtful person I had ever met. He was so sweet in his romantic gestures, and did things I never would have even thought of. He was always so concerned with seeing me so cold, and so he decided to do something about it. While I was away visiting a friend, he had a heating technician come over and start installing radiant heated flooring. In case you didn’t know what heated flooring is, it is another form of heating method and it warms your home through your floorboards. Say goodbye to cold floors. To say I was amazed when I walked into the home and put my cold foot onto a heated floor, would be an understatement. Thanks to my sweet boyfriend, we now have 3 heating types in our home. The central HVAC, the gas fireplace and now the wonder heated flooring.

I never thought that I would see a need for emergency HVAC.

I have heard of some heating and A/C businesses that offered it, but where I lived in the south, it was never really needed.

The temperatures were never really extreme enough to warrant an emergency. However, what I didn’t take into account was the fact that we do get occasional heat waves. Not very often, but when we do, it can be pretty bad. However, even during the heat waves, I was never that concerned, because I always had my cooling system working. However, when I met my boyfriend, he told me we can never be too careful, and the next time we had the A/C worker out, he agreed to pay for the HVAC service plan. I honestly thought it was a waste, but I also knew my boyfriend knew what he was doing. It wasn’t until a year later or so, that we actually ended up using the HVAC emergency plan. Before that, we used many of the other benefits like reduced prices and free HVAC maintenance, but until then we hadn’t used the emergency HVAC service. But then one summer, we had a massive heat wave, and our older A/C broke down. It was well over 100 degrees outside, and without the cooling from the HVAC system, our home quickly began to heat up as well. My boyfriend called the emergency service, and was able to have the cooling device fixed in under 30 minutes. It was incredibly impressive, and it was such a relief to have the cooling air back, the emergency HVAC really is a life saver.

Over the last couple years, my husband and I had been noticing how much dustier it was getting in our home.

We considered have our driveway and parking area black topped, but neither of us wanted to add to the environmental problems we already had.

We wanted the rain to soak into the soil and not run off and erode. My husband said he didn’t think our dust problem was coming from the driveway dust. He was looking at all our HVAC receipts and he realized we hadn’t had the ductwork cleaned in almost five years. He called the HVAC company and asked them to send out a team of ductwork cleaners. We had to have an HVAC technician inspect the ductwork for any tears or holes before the ductwork could be cleaned. Once that was done, the cleaners took over. It didn’t take long to complete the ductwork cleaning and sanitizing. The dirt and debris I was expecting, didn’t exist. I was pleased with the way the entire process of cleaning and sanitizing the ductwork had gone. The HVAC technician changed the air filters after the ductwork was cleaned and he then inspected the HVAC system. Before he left, he gave us a couple of pamphlets that discussed whole home air purification systems. He said it would help to eliminate any dust, bacteria, germs, mold, mildew, and viruses that the regular air filter couldn’t catch. The HVAC tech wasn’t even back at the service center, before we decided to add a whole home air purification system into our HVAC.

One of the worst experience I have ever had, was when our house burned.

The HVAC company told us it burnt because of a glitch in the wiring.

When the furnace was installed, the wiring wasn’t done properly. It was causing sparks and arcing inside the wall. After a couple weeks of this happening, it charred the walls enough that they quickly caught on fire. It took six months of living in an apartment before the house was rebuilt and able to be lived in. We had a new HVAC system in the house, and we asked if we could have central air conditioning installed if we paid for it. I was excited to central heating and air conditioning because my husband and I had never had it in the house. We lived in the house for almost six months before the newness of central heating and air conditioning wore off. They had rebuilt the house according to what we wanted. There were hardwood floors, a baking bar and a breakfast bar. The house was a showpiece, but we no longer felt like we were home. They did all the work according to what we had started, but it wasn’t the same. We didn’t do the work which took away from the house. It didn’t take long for us to put the house up for sale and buy a new one. The new house doesn’t have central heating and air conditioning. We have a boiler for heating and hot water, and window air conditioning units for the summer. It isn’t a showpiece, but it is our home and we love. Few people can boast that they can stand in the middle of their property and see three counties in the countryside below them.

The HVAC company called and told us they would need to order another furnace

Our new furnace was supposed to be delivered last week. Two hours before delivery time the HVAC company called and said there was a problem with the delivery. Because of all the rain, the roof collapsed in the warehouse where the AC unit was stored. He said the AC unit was still in the box, but there was debris covering it. It took a week for them to rid the warehouse of all the debris, and get all the furnaces and air conditioning units cleaned up. Those items that were still in boxes, had to be opened up and checked for hidden damage. Although air conditioning units were made to be out in the weather, furnaces were not. I wanted the HVAC company to make sure our furnace was in good working condition, before they delivered it. I didn’t want the furnace put into the basement, only to find out it would need to be removed again. Getting anything in or out of our small basement was a nuisance. Playing games with the furnace was going to be torture. The HVAC company respected my wishes, even if they didn’t agree. I was glad I stuck with my decision. The HVAC company called and told us they would need to order another furnace. The furnace was not working properly and they would not sell it to me. I was glad they made that decision. I think I would have been looking for a new HVAC company if they sold me a damaged furnace and charged full price for it, and it didn’t work when I needed it to.

We had a bad storm go through our area last year.

Five inches of rain fell in about twelve hours.

The wind brought down trees that had been standing for decades. It destroyed houses from falling trees, and people were without electricity for almost a month. We were one of the few houses on our street that was left standing. Our air conditioning unit had no damage, and it was still standing on its outside pad. I told my husband that if we had electricity, I would turn the air conditioning on and inviting neighbors to stay. He told me that before we turned the AC unit on; he wanted the HVAC company to do a good inspection, and that couldn’t happen until the power came back on. I thought he was making a lot of excuses to not use the AC unit, but I understood why. We had power restored two weeks later, and the HVAC company was at the house two days after that. They went over the air conditioning unit. The HVAC tech said that it appeared to be in good shape, but considering the storm it went through, he was hesitant to tell us to use it. Our homeowner’s insurance would pay to replace the HVAC system along with the minor repairs that was needed for the house, but I didn’t want to waste our insurance on an air conditioning that may be usable. When my husband mentioned it shorting out and causing our house to burn down, I changed my mind. I told the HVAC company to order a new AC unit for the house.

I couldn’t believe it when I got the summons to go to court.

My best friend and I had rented a cabin by the beach for a week.

It was supposed to have excellent air conditioning, and two bedrooms with two baths. We had two beds in one room, a shared bath with the other half of the condo, and poor air conditioning. Three months after the experience, I was being summoned to court. The people who had the other half of the condo were suing the owners on a personal injury lawsuit. They said that the lack of air conditioning and poor air quality had caused his asthma to get so out of control, that he ended up in the hospital when he got home. I thought it was a frivolous waste of my time and the court’s time, but he was serious. He wanted me to testify to the lack of air conditioning and poor air quality. I knew it wasn’t the best, but my friend and I spent little time in the cabin. I told this to the lawyer who was asking questions, but he kept going back to the poor air quality and lack of air conditioning. I admitted that the air conditioning wasn’t as good as it could have been. I didn’t notice the air quality being so bad, unless he was talking about the heat and humidity. I had a good time, and so did my best friend’s. Till the other renters were done with their lawsuit over air quality, everyone got their money back for the rental, and he ended up with about $50,000 extra.
