The Quietest Air Conditioners

I am getting some money soon and want to invest it in Ethereum but it’s taking longer than I expected.

Now I am sitting here watching the price of ETH go up quickly and thinking of all of the money I didn’t make, haha.

It went up about 30% the past week so if I had invested a week ago I’d have an extra $30k now. It’s all about patience isn’t it? What’s the big deal anyways if I don’t have an extra chunk of money that I thought I would, it all gets spent regardless. I gotta learn to relax. My dad, a plumber by trade, used to always say his classic line “you gotta learn to relax”, and it is echoing in my mind right now as I wait for the money he gave me for inheritance. I plan on calling my own plumbing contractor soon to fix some leaking water pipes in my flat. I tried to fix them myself but ended up doing more harm than good and also losing more money in the process. I thought I knew a lot about leak repairs but I guess I don’t so now it’s time to call a professional plumbing service to come out and do it right. They usually give me a good deal since they are a local company and I know them from being out and about. I may ask them to also do some drain cleaning in my bathrooms since the bath tubs are draining very slowly nowadays. It should be an easy fix for them.

Life is good and I am still open to trying new things when the opportunity arises

I’ve done many things in my day from an engineer to a stand up comedian. I enjoy trying new things and expanding my comfort zone so when I am old and gray at the end of my life I won’t feel as if I lived a half lived life. There has been a lot of heartache and disappointment going out into the unknown many times but I feel like my life has been richer because of it. I’ve done so many things in my 54 years already it makes me wonder if my life was ending tomorrow if I would be at peace with it. I was a plumber for many years and have so many stories just from that one endeavor from all of the interesting clients I met over the years. I ended up marrying one of my divorced clients and we had a family together and are still together to this day. She actually answered the phone for emergency plumbing issues in the middle of the night sometimes and I am so grateful for all of the energy she put into helping me run the plumbing repair company. I let go of that company back in 2008 when I decided I wanted to be a stand up comedian and she supported me the whole time. When our water heater started leaking she wanted to learn how to do the repairs herself which really impressed me. Life is good and I am still open to trying new things when the opportunity arises. They say old age is when you have nothing to look forward to so always keep an open mind and take on new challenges.

I think it will be very slow today on the beaches seeing as it is still February and it’s Monday on top of that.

On the weekends we have quite a bit of tourists visiting but during the week it is quite slow here. I like how it cycles from busy on the weekends to slow on the weekdays. It gives me time to myself to just chill on the beach alone. I think I will do some writing for my Friday open mic show and come up with some new bits I can talk about on stage. I have a plumber friend who is getting into stand up comedy like me so I will have a buddy to work with sometimes. It’s good to work in teams when you are writing or testing something out to make sure it is actually funny to them also, they call this a beta group. He does a lot of plumbing service calls during the days but his nights are free so we will be doing some shows together soon. I’ve been doing comedy for 17 years and have changed my expectations from being big and famous to just doing comedy for the fun of it, that makes it all the more enjoyable to do. I had a plumbing repair job done a few weeks ago and may write about it because it was kind of a funny experience. My cat kept watching the guy work and one time it got out of the flat when he went out and he spent an hour trying to catch it. It was a funny day.

Talk about a lot of dirty work, I just watched the guys working out in the streets and it looked like it wasn’t very fun.

They are city workers and I’m sure they don’t get paid a lot of money for their hard work.

I am so happy I got out of the manual labor field almost 15 years ago. It was one of the best moves I made and it saved my body from a lot of damage. I had fallen off a couple roofs and got injured in many other ways doing manual labor. Thank God I’m done. I saw the road crew doing a sewer line installation job, which took several months, and it did not look like easy work. A lot of the time they were down in the trenches under the blacktop digging with shovels to expose the old pipes in the street that were probably leaking as they looked really old and rusty. I know that leak repairs are dirty work and when it is underground with sewer lines the work is that much more nasty. I take off my hat to these workers and maybe one day when I go by and they are working on it again I’ll give them a cold six pack of beer as thanks. Even the drain cleaning service techs have a dirty job especially when it deals with sewer clogs where they have to work with the nasty stuff that we leave behind. I used to do this with my old company and know how hard it is sometimes. Thanks to all you guys working in the trenches.

I played about eight games of beach volleyball yesterday I think and am feeling good about my body today.

I stopped playing for a few weeks as my shoulders were telling me I needed a break.

I’ve been playing competitively for almost 30 years and sometimes the body needs a little rest now and then. At least it’s winter now and there aren’t a lot of games going on. I need to get an MRI of each shoulder next week and decide if therapy or surgery is the solution, hopefully not the latter. I am going to try a natural fix. I will do some pipe cleaning today in my house because my drains in my bathtub and sink in the bathroom are getting really slow. I like to take it apart myself instead of using chemicals to clean out the clogs. Sometimes there is just a lot of hair in the pipes and the plumbing contractor told me it’s best to try and clean the trap first instead of pouring deadly chemicals into your sink I know that those chemicals go out into nature at some point so I am trying to keep the pollution to a minimum and do my part to help restore the earth. I’ve done drain line repairs many times so it is pretty easy for me to do. There is a plumbing service near me and I will use them if I can’t solve it myself so I always have them as a backup plan and they have decent labor prices here in my town.

So today I had a fairly easy day at work.

I am waiting for some money to come in from my stepmom so I can drop it in Ethereum crypto and let it ride for a few years. I think this crypto is going to do quite well over the next 10 years and plan on not touching the money for at least a year. I may use some of it each month to help me with bills but am going to try and not touch it for a year. I have a steady income so I should be set. If I have another water heater repair that needs to be done I won’t have to worry about paying anything because I am just renting here. I’ve had a few things break on the air conditioner and the owner handled all of the costs. The plumbing service once had to come out on an emergency call at three in the morning and I know it was not cheap but at least it didn’t cost me a dime. I used to own a house and remember all of the money I used to sink into it each year for repairs and maintenance and now I don’t spend a dime on any of that. If my sewer line needs repairing I just call the owner and it’s fixed in a couple days without any money coming out of my bank account. I like renting for this fact alone, it’s just a cheaper way to live and a lot less stressful. Give it a thought.

This weekend was quite busy with a lot of tourists coming to my town to visit for the day.

It’s nice seeing families with kids walking hand in hand, it just gives me a sense of happiness when I see them happy.

We have a lot of people watching us play volleyball along the boardwalk which makes the games even more exciting. I can sometimes hear them cheering and yelling during our heated matches that include a lot of trick shots and crazy plays. I’m always the entertainer looking for an audience to perform to. I have so much more free time now than before when I was running my plumbing repair service back in the states. I also was a roofing contractor but I stopped doing that job when I almost shot a roofing nail through my knee with one of the roofing guns. It was much easier doing leak repairs and new plumbing installations than being on a very hot roof in the summer or up in an attic trying to fix an air handler water leak. Summers in the south are hot, but summers in an attic in the south are like a sauna, with no windows. There is a plumbing service near me where I live here overseas and when I see them heading out in the morning for work I just feel a sense of gratitude for the new life I have created and the simplicity of it. I sometimes feel like a bird that has been set free of its cage. It’s a joyful feeling.

Today is a big day for me because I am finally getting caught up on my taxes.

I fell into bankruptcy and all kinds of financial trouble back in 2008 when the financial world collapsed. That is when I decided to move to NYC and pursue comedy full time. I made no money doing comedy so I stopped filing returns for 13 years but now I have a regular income and can start filing again and paying some taxes. I barely make enough still but I would like to get squared away with the IRS. Also, living overseas changed things too. Today I have a problem with my hot water heater and need to call a plumber because I have no clue what is causing the issue. At least I don’t need to pay for it because I am just renting the flat here so it feels kind of nice not needing to worry about the cost of it. I have a tankless hot water heater and need someone good at servicing that type of model since it is something I haven’t come across when repairing this type of problem. I have simplified my life for this reason alone; I was tired of constantly trying to keep up with all of the maintenance necessary when owning a home. I still have no money saved but at least I don’t need to get nervous when calling a plumbing service nowadays. I am happy to not have any debt anymore and my bills are very few and I’ve streamlined the payment process of each of them.

I played a few games of beach volleyball yesterday although I probably shouldn’t have because of my shoulders but they actually held up quite well.

I took a cold water plunge last evening at sunset after playing to cool down my shoulders and help with the inflammation.

I also took another dip this morning along with some ice packs last night. They feel a bit sore today but not as painful as a month ago when I played, it’s more of a normal aching sore instead of a knife stabbing pain so maybe my tendons are healing. I see outside they are doing a gas line repair below in the street because they must have detected a leak. It’s a lot of hard work these street construction men do and I know how tough it is as I used to do it many years ago. I had my own roofing and plumbing service up until 2008 when I decided my body is better off doing some type of office work on a computer. I was an engineer back in Silicon Valley but left it all back in 1999 to do my own thing. I liked being a plumbing contractor for a while and meeting all kinds of new people when I was doing the estimates or completing a job. I left that in 2008 to pursue a career in the arts when I became a stand up comedian. It was much more exciting than drain line or leak repairs in the plumbing world but carried a different kind of pain, the pain of bombing on stage.

Back to Monday again, here we go once more.

It feels like a dream to me when I think about the concept of time.

The days whiz by so quickly that I just can’t grasp the concept of an hour or a day. When you look back on your day it feels like it was just a blurry dream. I think going through life lighthearted and carefree is the best way and also knowing that all is well. I like to repeat this mantra every morning and when I think of it. It makes the passing days a bit sweeter. My plumbing is leaking today and that is not so sweet. I think the kitchen sink drain is where it is coming from so I may need to hit the hardware store later and grab the materials I need. I haven’t used any drain cleaning stuff in it so maybe the pipes are clogged and backing up a bit causing the water to sit in the pipes and leach through the small gaps in the connections. I like that word leach, which sounds kind of scary. I like to do the repairs myself since I’ve been working on house repairs for many years. My dad taught me how to do plumbing repair when I was young, among many other types of home repairs, and it has saved me a lot of money in labor over the years. Be careful when you call a plumber and make sure you get three estimates because sometimes they will overcharge someone if they don’t know the regular price for fixing it.
