Last summer, my fiance and I decided to take our many kids to the mountains for a 6-day trip.

We rented a lodge close to the lake however near the top of the mountain.

The forecasted un-even temperatures for our week-long visit were in the 90s. My very first concern was our comfort inside of the lodge. There was no listing for the AC or heating system. I thought they were the same thing as a window unit. When I told my fiance about the air-conditioning situation, he wanted to change our plans. The kids were excited, so that was not going to work. I told my fiance that all of us would make the best of a situation. I even promised to drive all the way to the neighborhood to buy a portable cooling system if the modern home was not cool enough. I was upset that the ductless AC units would not give enough cooling and I was foolish for believing that! Each one of the rooms in the lodge had a separate ductless cooling system. The kids only kept theirs set at 69 degrees, because the AC units toil so well. We did not have anything at all to worry about while I was in that trip and all of us had an amazing week in nature with our whole family together.

I’ve done all kinds of weird hobbies in the past. At one time it was drumming, then it carried on to cycling road bikes with good pals of mine in university. I got into beach volleyball when I was approximately 25 and it stuck with myself and others all the way up until now at the age of 54. My body honestly doesn’t jump as high as it did and I can’t hit as hard anymore because of a torn rotator cuff I got about 8 years ago. I did not know it at the time but that injury would change the way I played. I finally learned that after playing you need to become your own cooling specialist. You must use ice to remove any swelling of the joints. The body gets inflamed from overuse and cooling down the body with a good cooling component such as an ice bath is the best thing you can do for it. I’ve been playing for as long as 30 years and discovered that I don’t need to take all of the pain medications if I learn the finest methods of recovery. I care about being able to program our smart temperature control to keep our room cool at night when it’s sizzling so I have a truly nice night of rest. My body does most of its healing and actual recovery when it is at rest while in the night. I also have a wonderful heating machine for warming up our body before I play ball. I also had to have our heating machine repaired in our residence because it seemed to be actually working inefficiently. I have learned a lot from several years of injuries I believe.
