I’ve enjoyed using washable filters for a few years now.

I never thought I’d run into anybody who didn’t like them, so I suggested these types of air filters to everybody I knew.

Some people were turned off by the price, but it’s completely worth it because you end up saving more money compared to buying disposable air filters. Well, my one buddy who bought a couple of washable filters thought it was going to be great in his home with perfect air quality and big time savings. Turned out to not work out for him because he didn’t have a good time cleaning his washable filters. He didn’t even clean the washable filter all the time as I came to realize when he had poor air quality in his home. He blamed me for these problems because I suggested the washable filters, but I explained that he had to actually clean them! He was all bent out of shape for nothing, trying to blame his issues on me when he wasn’t even following the directions for the air filters. He ended up switching back to disposable air filters and said those washable ones were just a giant waste of money. Well, fortunately his washable filters were the same size as mine, and I told him I would buy them off him. I actually cleaned them thoroughly and I was able to make the ones he had last for the longest time with good air quality and everything in my home! He didn’t even believe that I was using the washable filters he had in his HVAC, but I showed him how they had to be washed thoroughly or they would be clogged up and wouldn’t work as desired.

I had a great time this past weekend playing poker with my buddies.

We were playing at Fred’s house and sadly, his HVAC system quit working. It was a very hot evening and when that cooling system shut off, we all were pretty irritated about it. Still, we were already in the game and we had our food, drinks, and snacks. We didn’t want to have to stop playing the game and go somewhere else, so we endured the misery without a working cooling system. He didn’t even have backup window AC units or anything, but I think he will know to invest in something like that moving forward. Still, the broken cooling system seemed to give me better luck somehow. I was getting some of the best hands and everybody thought I was bluffing because I was sweating like crazy. Just picture me there dabbing my face constantly with a paper towel, and everybody thought I seemed nervous. Well, I ended up taking everybody’s money that evening. I was thinking next time they come to my place to play cards, maybe I should keep the cooling system shut off on purpose, as it might give me an advantage. But no, I wouldn’t do anything like that, I’m only kidding. I don’t want to cheat at all and I don’t want my buddies to feel uncomfortable without a working cooling system at all. I doubt my HVAC would have any issues anyway because I’m on an HVAC service plan where I have professionals coming out every quarter to take care of the important HVAC maintenance.

Something that a lot of homeowners learn at one time or another is that it’s not a good idea to mistreat your HVAC system. I’m not talking about beating the system up with a stick or anything like that, I’m talking about neglect with lack of HVAC maintenance and repairs and choosing not to change the air filters. While I realize a lot of people know how to take care of their HVAC systems just fine, there are many who couldn’t care less, or just don’t know any better. The air filters must be replaced in a timely fashion according to the directions. Some air filters need to be changed monthly, some every other month, and some quarterly throughout the year. Personally, I prefer the quarterly air filters because they are typically good quality and you don’t have to stress every month about forgetting to get that air filter changed on time. If you fail to replace your air filters like some of these people who seem not to care, you’ll inevitably experience serious issues with the HVAC system. Smaller problems will lead to more significant ones and in those cases it can cost a small fortune to have your HVAC repaired. With a lot of people when they learn these valuable lessons, they will start to pay attention to their HVAC and take good care of it. Others will just shrug and make the same mistakes and pay a fortune to keep their HVAC system running. Which kind of person do you want to be? There really isn’t a good excuse not to keep up with your crucial HVAC maintenance.

I called a local company to consult with an expert.

Unfortunately, this guy was very rude and acted like he didn’t even want to help me. He didn’t help me with energy saving tips or anything. I don’t think the guy even knew any energy saving tips to be honest, other than using LED light bulbs. I was actually happy when the guy left because I was sick of him being rude to me in my own house. I ended up looking online and I found a few places that had awesome reviews. I should have done this in the first place because I noticed the HVAC company I went through initially had terrible reviews. Many people complained about how rude the HVAC experts were and some commented how they didn’t seem to be experts at all. When I had another HVAC pro come out from one of the more reputable companies, it was like a breath of fresh air. This guy was actually very kind, knowledgeable, and he answered all of my questions. He even helped me figure out what HVAC system I would want to go for in the near future. I wasn’t looking to buy anything yet, I just wanted to get a good idea about the modern HVAC systems on the market, and what would be suitable for my home. I also wanted to know about the pricing I could expect, and this guy helped me out every step of the way without having an attitude and he left me looking forward to our future HVAC system.

There was a time back in the day when I worked for this retail store.

They were not open 24/7 like some big stores, but we actually worked there overnight.

They would lock us in the store so we were not permitted to go anywhere, otherwise the alarm would sound and the police would show up. You had to bring your own lunch and snacks, otherwise you would starve. They at least brewed coffee though and had vending machines. I thought the temperature control settings were alright, but there were a few times when the HVAC system broke down. I guessed that they were not getting regular maintenance from the HVAC professionals. I don’t know a whole lot about commercial HVAC systems, but I know they need to be maintained just like any other HVAC system around. When we had issues with the HVAC, I also noticed the air quality wasn’t so great. Sometimes I would start to feel sick and I wished that we could open some windows or something, but no, I felt like I was locked in a cage when I would work through the night. Eventually, I brought my own air purifier and everybody thought I was nuts, but it actually did help me feel better. Of course, I quit working that job a long time ago. As a matter of fact, that particular retail store isn’t even in business any longer these days, all the locations have closed down for good. I have to wonder how many other businesses are going to shut down, seeing as a ton of businesses had no choice but to close during the pandemic.

When we were younger, our father never believed in investing in a central cooling system. We just had a central heating system along with a fireplace. And you better believe we utilized that fireplace all the time. Our father had us out there splitting wood all the time so we’d always have a big enough stack to help us get through the winter months. Most of the time, we would run out of wood towards the end of the winter and we’d find ourselves out there splitting more wood to help keep the heating costs low with the central heating system. I always asked why we couldn’t have a central cooling system. Eventually, I think it was bothering our Dad, and he finally got everybody their own window AC unit. Nobody expected that, but it was pretty nice. He didn’t like spikes in the energy bills though, so he would always tell us not to crank the AC too much and to never leave it running when we were not in our bedrooms. He always changed the furnace filters, but he never did anything much to improve the air quality in the house apart from the occasional ductwork cleaning which actually did help a lot. To this day, I have been trying to get my father to invest in a good central cooling system and an air purification system for the sake of his health and Mom’s. He’s very stubborn in his old ways though. It took me forever to convince him to get a smart thermostat. In the end, it was when I told him about the energy savings, and that’s when he chose to get one.

I honestly didn’t think my brother was serious when he first went to a trade school to get his HVAC certification.

I thought he was doing it because a few of his buddies were doing the same thing.

Well, surprisingly, both his buddies dropped out but my brother kept on going. He actually was fascinated with heating and cooling technology and he appreciated learning how to work on these systems. He passed his certification exam the first time and he did well at the first HVAC company he worked at. When he talked about starting his own HVAC company, I didn’t know how that would go. He did very well though. He got all the legal business taken care of and got a nice location to run his HVAC business out of. The place was actually pretty nice and very comfortable too. Now my brother has been running his business for close to a decade. The 10 year anniversary is coming up soon and he’s going to be throwing a huge sale to celebrate all his customers. He will be having 25% off on all installations and that’s going to be a busy time for him and his HVAC experts for certain. I am planning on getting an HVAC install from him during that time too. I might even be able to go for an expensive installation like radiant heated floors, that would be fantastic! I never would have dreamed that I would be talking to my brother about getting a new HVAC installation in the past, but he is extremely skilled, probably the best HVAC professional I’ve ever worked with.

I’ve always been very sensitive to my environment, especially while driving.

If I’m driving in the car, I need the ideal comfort from the climate control system.

I can’t deal with it if the AC system is up too high or if the heating system is cranked up. If I’m driving on my own though, I don’t have to worry about anybody else’s temperature control settings preferences. Well, this one time when my car broke down, I had to get it fixed. I considered taking it to the auto repair shop, but I knew it was going to be expensive. Then a friend of mine said he would work on it and get it up and running again in no time. Regrettably, we had to wait for the parts that were needed for the fix. In the meantime, I had to get a ride to and from work with a coworker. He was cool about it at first, but I didn’t like the temperature control settings in his car. He chose to crank the heating system way too much and it was making me feel nauseous. Even with the window down slightly, it didn’t help much, but that irritated him anyway. I had to tell him to pull over when we got close to work one day, and I jumped out of the car and hurled on the side of the road. He turned down the heating system after that, but he didn’t give me any more rides to and from work, I had to go with someone else who actually had better temperature control settings. That guy had me covered until my car was finally running again, but it took some 2 weeks to get it fixed! I should have gone to the auto repair shop, it would have been done in a matter of hours.
