Luckily, we had backup battery powered charging packs for our cell phones, so my husband and I played games on our cellphones for hours to keep us occupied and to keep our minds off of the fact that we were sweating from the lack of air conditioning
My name is Ariella and I’m going to tell you about the time I lost power and air conditioning during the Summer for a week. It was Summer time, about 3 years ago. I live in an area that is known to be a hurricane hotspot! The fact that a bad hurricane was coming was made clear from all of the news and social media, so I prepared myself like I always do. I got the basics such as bottled water, batteries, and canned foods. Usually when there is a hurricane, I don’t lose power or if I do lose power it is not for very long. I live near a hospital so that helps However, this hurricane was different. The gusting winds and rain genuinely did damage to my area. I feel lucky to be alive, but losing power and air conditioning during the Summer was not fun. Obviously, power is required for thermostats and air conditioning to work, and when we lost power, we could not open the windows due to the storm to let air in! We were resting in stagnant, non air conditioned air. I did everything I could to cool off, but it was super hot and humid without my beloved air conditioning system. I think the situation could have been so much worse, and I think I was not alone in this, but nothing about this was enjoyable. Luckily, we had backup battery powered charging packs for our cell phones, so my husband and I played games on our cellphones for hours to keep us occupied and to keep our minds off of the fact that we were sweating from the lack of air conditioning. I was so grateful for the Heating and Air Conditioning workers who worked hard to get all the people’s air conditioning working again after the storm.
