The Quietest Air Conditioners

It’s as though I’m dealing with an invading force at times.

I keep threatening the boys that I’ll just go get a job and then they will have to spend their days in the day camps or with a babysitter.

This scares them a bit but not enough to make the difference I’m looking for. Thankfully, another summer is behind me and the boys are back in school. And I have the air conditioning in my house all to myself again. That is, until they get home from school. Still it’s a win for me. We live in an area where the summers are really brutal hot. I didn’t feel great about pushing the kids out of the HVAC cooling when they were little. So my husband and I put in a pool so they could be outside in the heat but in the pool as well. That worked for a while. And still, the boys will get outside of the air conditioning to swim a bit. But not like they once did. Now, all they want to do is stay inside the HVAC cooling to do the online gaming thing. Of course, this turns into a fight most times and I have to be referee. During the summer, I envy my husband and his office with the zone controlled HVAC. There are none of our boys running wild in there. That actually was sort of a devious plan of mine. I’d drop the boys at dad’s office and let them enjoy that air conditioning while I got some peace in my own air conditioning. However, I haven’t had the grit to do that stunt yet. Perhaps I’ll go for that trick next summer.

All of last year, my family and I hunkered down in the air conditioning safety of our home. The pandemic was raging around us and we were taking every precaution we could. And mostly, that meant not straying far from the heating and cooling comfort of our house. Like most other families, we gave up a lot in the name of safety for ourselves and our fellow human beings. That meant no vacation as well. So during the rest of 2020, the idea of a great vacation in 2021 was the mantra. However, although we are vaccinated, the number of cases precluded us from taking the trip that we wanted to again this year. But we did get out on the road this summer and out of the air conditioning fo home. For us, that felt like a win. And we just packed up the car, cranked the HVAC cooling and sought out some adventure. While we still weren’t eating in the air conditioning of restaurants, we were able to enjoy all the outside stuff we wanted to. Then we picked up take out and took it back to the hotel. And the hotel had just the best HVAC cooling. It was one of those big wall units that really cranks out the cooling air. We did this sort of trip several times this year and it was actually a very fine substitute for the big trip that we had wanted to take but couldn’t. Perhaps next year will be the year that we can fly to that special destination. But the fact that we were able to travel at all and with great HVAC comfort does make up for it a bit.

Working from my home is not new to myself and others. In fact, every one of us have been working from home for 18 months. When it was time for people to work from home, the company offered a lot of incentives so they could cut down on staff in the office. I didn’t get to see the new construction or the new company, but I was given a pay raise and some nice bonuses to work from home. My job improved a great deal in quality and also quantity after making the change to working at home. I’ve had a clever strategy that I deal with that makes it even nicer to work for home. During summer months, I rise early to get up while it is still cool outside. To save money on the heating in addition to cooling plan, I tried to run my errands during the day when it is really hot outside. In this way, I can enjoy the air conditioning from the places around town. I don’t have to worry about getting stuck in an area where there is no warm air. By the time I come home from my errand running, the apartment is cooler because of the settings on the smart thermostat. It works very well to have my job at home and also have all of these extra things that I can handle when there is time. A lot of people are new to working at home, but my staff and I have been going through this for a long time. Our apartment is the new office setting and certainly a place where all of us would prefer to be comfortable.

It’s great to see positive things occurring and every one of us have found that we can rally around to help one another during our times. Our small community needed a lot of help and someone across the street had a problem with the heat pump. Every one of us rallied to get together and help the sweeter old lady. I didn’t really see the person as having problems, but both of us actually live in this region where the temperatures are hot and cold. During the winter season, it is genuinely tepid. Every one of us have walked around and ask a couple of people if they do like the temperature. One time I was walking around and noticed in the middle of a cold day that the neighbor was not using the heat pump. It was off even though the temperatures were cold. It was necessary for all of us to help out the neighbor. When we asked her if she needed some help, he told myself and others that she did not have a furnace. It died last winter and she had no cash on the fixed income to fix the furnace problems. The people in my neighborhood as well as myself decided to have a fundraiser and we raise enough cash to fix the heat pump. It is good to have a large community of neighbors that can help out in any time and there are clearly some ways that people can make a difference when we work together.

We all made it into another summer season and that is a thing that all of us actually appreciate very much.

When the heat of the day starts, we feel that the temperatures are balanced and relaxed. During summer we can save some huge cash by taking care of the AC at all times and keeping the settings lower on the thermostat.

I rarely ask for much at all and perhaps lots of parents will feel this way. Honestly, I don’t really require much effort from my children and I appreciate them to have less responsibility. They don’t have a lot of household chores and there are four more things that I did when I was an adult. They seem to moan lots of occasions about the temperatures in our home.
