The Quietest Air Conditioners

I believe buying this robot vacuum cleaner was the best purchase I’ve made in my whole life.

Well, buying my sound system so my band could play outside was also another actually enjoyable acquisition, but the robot vacuum cleaner makes life a lot easier at home. I actually don’t like to vacuum and having this robot do the work is so nice because I can just push one button before I leave the flat and come home an hour or so later to clean floors, but the thing also can mop the floors by simply putting on a mop attachment. HEPA filters don’t normally come with a robot vacuum cleaner, I went to the heating and A/C corporation and they had some ones you could cut to size so I got one for this machine. All of my floors are hardwood floors and the robot honestly moves through the whole flat without an issue and cleans all of the floors with just the push of a button. The local business who sold it to me told me that the robot will honestly last me ten more years till I need to replace it. That is a good deal considering the thing only costs $135, but I have heating and A/C zone control now in my flat and that saves me a lot of money seeing that I can cool down just my family room at night and not have to cool the whole flat down at the same time. My flatmate cares about it a lot warmer at night in her family room, so this zone control works perfect for this kind of situation.

I got my cats locked up in the powder room for a little bit while my robot vacuum cleaner cleans the floors.

If I let the cats out while it is running they end up attacking it and stopping it from doing its task, then they will stay in lockdown for another 45 minutes while my robot and I do our work.

I also put them in time out when they keep bothering me when I am trying to write as they like to plop on my chest while I am trying to type. I have two cats and the local business near me gave them to me a year ago when they reduced them from behind their building where the a/c is located. There were nine kittens they found and they managed to rescue seven of them and find homes for them. I was going to take just one but the heating and A/C worker told me it is better to have two of them, so now I have two to keep each other entertained while I am working away with my heating and cooling system writing task. Tomorrow I am going to invite my buddy Adam over for dinner so we can work on some tunes and play with the cats a bit. We are also going to clean the fireplace and make a fire in the evening and do some practicing with the tunes we wrote. I believe the evening is going to be a bit colder than normal so having a fire will be nice for keeping us warm.

Well, yesterday my EV stock finally had a green day after what seemed like months of a downslide. It could just be a dead cat bounce and continue its slide but I guess we will see in the coming months. It was at $20 a couple of years ago, but after so many delays with production the investors got tired of it and sold the stock till the price plummeted all the way down to the 15 cent mark. I’m not sure it can go lower than that though because they are starting to build cars and the local contractor in town told me that the price is going to start shifting to the upside soon with the local business. I will just hold what I have and not buy anymore because I can’t keep losing money like this. I borrowed $5K from my new contractor brother and have to repay him at some point with this money or I will have to tap into my HVAC system repair work savings to pay him. The only problem with tapping into that $100K nest egg from many years of work is that it is no longer there as it is tied up in the stock itself. My heating supplier told me not to sell now no matter what so I will listen to him and just hold on for a few more years if that is what it takes. I could see the stock hitting the $5 mark in the next year or so and I would not be happy if I sold it now.

It’s easy to get weighed down in the day to day drudgery of work when you do the same job for countless weeks, months, and years.

But if you step back and look at all of the benefits you get from the job then maybe you’ll be grateful for having an income at all.

I watched a documentary last night on homeless drug addicts in Canada and the life they lead is scary to say the least. Many of them died from overdoses trying to escape the hell that their reality has become, so next time you are at your local business doing your work remember how much better you have it in your air conditioned office than these poor people on the brutal streets of the city. In the winter it must get so biting cold outside and probably the only way to escape it is to get all drugged up and numb the senses, when all we have to do is touch a button on our HVAC system or let our smart thermostat do the work. I get a bit bored and impatient with writing articles like this all of the time, but if I step back and look at the big picture it puts things into perspective for me so that I can work in a more calm manner. I only work two hours a day writing about space heaters and a/c units, so that sounds pretty good to me and I am going to be more appreciative of the work life I have carved out for myself.

 

 

Hybrid heating

I have a slight headache this morning and just took an aspirin to see if it will help with it.

I should go to the store to buy some cheese so I can make my grilled cheese sandwich, but maybe I should skip the meal and go for a salad instead.

I’ve been eating grilled cheese almost every day for months now and probably should cut back a bit on the cheese. I also have to return this Amazon package this week for something I ordered but won’t need. I think there is a local business near me where all I have to do is take the air conditioning filter I ordered and drop it off at the place. It is like a five minute bike ride away and is located near the dentist office that I need to stop by to make an appointment with. I have had some tooth pain ever since dropping an HVAC part on it a few months ago and I think it is time to get it looked at. I’m just waiting for some money to come in from my stepmom so I can pay for the tooth repair, but maybe it will be covered by my insurance and I won’t have to touch that money. I was working on some ductwork repairs and dropped an HVAC tool and it hit me in the mouth, probably cracking something on the tooth that took most of the impact. I’m sure the dentist can fix it quite fast and all I need to do is make an appointment and get it done.

Cooling and heating business

I’m having a slow day today, almost feeling like I partied last night when I didn’t.

I think this is my body telling me to slow down a bit and rest it so that it doesn’t fall apart on me.

My dad always told me that I gotta learn to relax, and now that he is gone I am starting to listen to what he told me. Why couldn’t I have listened to him more when he was alive though? I guess I still can heed his advice and slow down some so that I can live longer. Furnace repairs is what pops did for many years and he left us with lots of great memories and lots of lessons on how to keep your HVAC system running well. He has been gone for three years now but his words still echo loudly in my mind and my love for him hasn’t changed even after he died. I will work on some heating and cooling equipment today at work and think about pops and all that he taught me about the field as I work for the HVAC business in town here in Europe. I decided to move here eight years ago and in one more year my residency will expire and I will have to find a way to renew it for another five years so I can keep staying here and living my life. I work in the HVAC field as a heating tech and like living over here, so hopefully I can renew that residency and keep living the dream on the coast.

I am trying to decide if I want to do legs today on the beach or if I should wait one more day and let my knees rest.

I played some ball last weekend and my knees are still kind of sore from it, so maybe I need to rest them another day before I subject them to the torture I am about to inflict on my getaway sticks.

I have no cartilage in the knees, they say, so I have to be a bit more careful so I don’t make them worse or I will be getting new knees. Heating equipment repairs takes its toll on the knees, as does radiant heated floor installations, so I need to be good to my knees so they can help me keep earning money. I don’t know what knee replacement goes for but I’m sure it is not cheap, so I think I will try knee injections first to see how well they work for someone like me. My local contractor friend had the injections and told me it helped a lot with her knees after messing them up from too many years of ductwork cleaning for the bossman. I need to check on the cost of the injections to see if it is something I can afford right now or if I will have to wait for them. Anyway, today I will clean my gas fireplace and try to do some therapy on my knees at the local business down the street. I also have some cold cream pain gel that I will put on them to ease the pain.

I am chilling out today waiting for the temps to drop a bit before I head down to the beach.

My friend will visit tomorrow and we will have a little chill time here with the cats and make some dinner.

I am thinking about renaming my cats to some kind of beach theme names because my life is all about the beach. Maybe one will be named Shark and the other Dolphin, or maybe one can be Sea and the other can be Wave. I’m sure there are more fitting names than that but I am just thinking. Space heater and air purifier could be other names for them, but that sounds kind of silly don’t you think? What about Sandy and Salty? Now I am just getting plain goofy! I could go for HEPA and HVAC for some really strange names, why not, they are cats and they really don’t care what you name them. Ask Frank Zappa, well he is dead so you can’t ask him, but look at what he named his kids, totally ridiculous. Maybe Fireplace and Furnace would be good names for my cats because that is what they feel like when they lie on your chest and stomach for hours at a time. Sometimes they plop down on my flatmate’s chest and lap when she is sleeping in her room and stay there for the whole night. I need cold air conditioning and no cats when I sleep though because I am a hot sleeper and need the a/c set to a really low temp at night to sleep well.

That is double the loss of my cooling company money but it still doesn’t make me feel any better about my untimely decision to invest

I have seven and a half months till I go back home for a visit and will need that time to save up some money for the trip. It is not cheap going from Europe to the USA for a month when you have no home and no car there. It used to be easier when my dad was alive and I had a car stored at his place, but he decided to pass on and now it is not so easy going back home to visit. It would be a lot easier if I hadn’t lost the big pile of HVAC repair money he gave me, I still can’t believe that I really did lose it, but it is a fact and now it is a lot more difficult to go back to visit my family without that heating and cooling supplier cash. Ugh! I have made some dumb decisions in my life with money but this one takes the cake. I still have the shares in this HVAC corp stock but it has sunk so low I don’t know if it will ever find its way back to where it was when I bought it. My buddy is worse off than I am though as he bought it at the peak the year before and ended up losing almost $200K. That is double the loss of my cooling company money but it still doesn’t make me feel any better about my untimely decision to invest. My mom told me to put it in the bank and I should have listened to her, darn it. Breathe in, breathe out.

I have a bit over four hours left before heading down the street for my yoga student.

He pays me $20 for a 30 minute yoga session three times a week, which in this town basically pays for my food for the week from the grocery store.

Then I just have about $750 a month in bills when you look at all of my other living expenses. Our band pulls in about $400 a month playing in the streets, so that knocks my remaining bills down to $350 a month, which is really easy to earn with working online. HVAC system repairs is what I do at the cooling supplier store and I am able to work part time and still save about $700 a month. I like to have a buffer in the bank of $10K that is easily accessible in case of emergencies, and I am about halfway there right now after destroying that buffer with dumb investments. I invested in a heating corp that was doing really well last year, or so I thought, and I ended up killing all my savings that I stashed away for over 15 years. I still have the shares and maybe there will be a miracle and it will go back up to what it was before the crash. I just want to buy a new heating and cooling unit one day but I will have to wait for this HVAC business to get their act together again and start making some money with the company. Money comes and money goes doesn’t it?
