I tend to be that soundly official lady who legitimately just wants what they want. I’m not wild about constantly hearing why something I want isn’t possible. I am incredibly picky about our preferences and dislikes. That’s just the way I am and I have to live with that. I can tell you, I don’t act out or treat people poorly when I don’t get what I want. No, sincerely, I just get that much more harsh about getting it. That has been the case with the HVAC in our lake house as well. It started a few years ago when I would come to the lake house from work. All I wanted to do was to walk in, take a deep breath and relax by myself for a bit. But I was coming to a lake house to a house that when I took a deep breath, it almost made me gag, in reality. Our indoor air conditions were just the worst. At the time, I didn’t realize the implicit health component of good indoor air conditions. I just wanted good smelling air. The more and more I tried to get the air to smell good, the more it eluded me over time. Having tried all of the desmellizers out there and nothing worked only steeled our resolve for improvement. I went to the HVAC people to see if I could get to the root of the horrible problem. Finally, I got the answer I wanted. And all it took was a bit of an HVAC upgrade with my tech’s help. They came out and installed a whole house UV air purifier inside the existing HVAC air handler. It didn’t even take 12 hours before the house smelled just the way I always wanted it. I now come to the lake house and take that big deep breath and relax.

I have never legitimately been a big risk taker or gambler in my lifetime. Actually, I don’t legitimately gamble at all. From time to time I admit that I have enjoyed playing cards with our buddies. But it’s never been for any real money or any real losses. Betting our wifey on pigskin games is pretty fun. She is such a homer these days that she’ll bet on her lake house village team just about all the time. Other than that, I legitimately can say I just don’t gamble. Well, I am now gambling with the HVAC system. Our regular HVAC tech normally comes out twice a year to inspect and service the HVAC. Last year, however, she told me that the two of us were in need of an HVAC replacement. She couldn’t tell us exactly how long the HVAC would last however that the two of us needed to get a new HVAC plan together. I took the tech at her word because she is a total pro and the two of us trust our HVAC dealer implicitly without reason. So the two of us started saving for the new HVAC system. Then, obviously the two of us had the HVAC supplier out to inspect the house and help us decide on a new heating and cooling model. This was a good thing that the two of us decided to do because I can tell you that her help was good and made the situation so much easier to deal with. Whenever the two of us came to terms on the new HVAC model and price, the two of us were finally all set. However, I wasn’t ready to junk the old HVAC just yet. Now, I am gambling with my HVAC that it will get us through the rest of this winter.

Wow, I started doing our taxes a few days ago for 2020 and just pulling things together, it’s shocking the reduction in income in our home.

I mean I knew that without the bonus structure I was accustomed to and the obvious fact that I was working from the HVAC comfort of home, it was going to be lean.

I just honestly didn’t realize just how lean it was. Then, I started legitimately looking closer and I am stunned that I made over 20 percent less last year. I guess it’s a good thing that I always was so vigilant with the cost cutting. As soon as the dealer changed our weekly compensation package and I was no longer in the perfectly HVAC controlled office each day, I started cutting costs. That meant reigning in our spending in a legitimately big way, I would say. There legitimately wasn’t anything that was off limits. My wifey and I attacked our household budget and legitimately got it down to just the essentials. Good thing the two of us were wise with what we did because our saving nearly offset the reduced income. One super big saving was the HVAC cooling over the summer. The two of us live in a region where the outdoor heat is a big deal for 8 months out of the year. But summer time months can kill a bank account like that. The two of us ended up saving hundreds of dollars on HVAC alone. That actually helps now as I can put some of those savings back into the HVAC with regular appointments. It’s just too essential to our HVAC and its ability to operate at peak efficiency.

I know the lot of us all want to get the most out of all our household appliances. But that hasn’t always been the case for me and my family. Yet after renovating our, our perspective toward our vital appliances certainly changed in a big way. The two of us completely redid the living room, but the appliance the two of us added were all new and about the best you could buy. I did our dedicated homework in order to ensure that I got the best value for our money. Having been put through the living room ordeal first, I was much more prepared for taking on the HVAC situation without pause. I started by doing a lot of research on our own. There was just so much data out there that I was having a legitimately strenuous time figuring out which HVAC plan was going to be the best. It just hadn’t occurred to me that there were other methods than the central large air HVAC that I was so usual with. So I brought in an HVAC supplier. This was the wisest thing I could have done. The HVAC supplier was able to inspect our lake house first. And then she actually sat and listened to our wifey and I with regard to our HVAC wants and needs. She even agreed that the old HVAC was in need of being replaced. But, there was also the issue of the busted up ductwork. So she advocated that the two of us consider going with a series of ductless HVAC throughout the house. Long story short, turns out, the two of us like the ductless HVAC much better than the huge central air component the two of us used to have.

Finally, that ugly indoor air is a thing of the past in our home.

It was something that had plagued us for years.

We have a pretty large family as well as several pets. And, I love to cook so you can imagine the mix of odors we have going on in this house. It drove me nuts because we are such a clean crew. We devote a lot of time to making sure the house stays really clean. Each week we all put in about a 3 hour stretch to scour the house. Yet, the HVAC in our house just kept turning over that stale, stinky air. It wouldn’t be that big a problem if we lived in a region where we could open the windows more. But the HVAC is on almost the entire year. That pretty much makes fresh air not so easy to get. We tried all manner of devices and sprays to rid the house of odors. Yet, the best result we got was maybe a brief respite while those items masked the smell. I turned to the HVAC professionals to see what they could offer. They had a ready response and the answer was the whole house air purifier. After they explained that the whole house air purifier uses UV light to actually kill the stuff that causes the odors, I was all in. However, my husband balked at the price of the whole house air purifier. But I took my lobbying skills to the next level and convinced him that it would be worth it. I was right because I would have paid double to have the wonderful air we know get to experience every day.

When you live where I do, the heat & humidity are a big deal.

It is by far the worst weather situation that we face around here.

However, I will take that any day of the week before I have to deal with a long, cold winter. Still, there is no escaping the hot, humid weather that dominates our weather. Thankfully, we can rely on really good HVAC cooling in order to manage the sizzling heat. However, the HVAC cooling also allows us to do without another big part of the heat. We don’t have to worry about making sure that we are balancing the humidity in our homes. That happens as part of the process as the heat pump cools the house. I’m in my late sixties and I can remember what a problem it was to have the effects of all that humidity. My grandmother’s house didn’t have modern HVAC. She relied on an evaporative cooler and fans to ward off the heat. However, that combination did little to nothing to manage the humidity. The result was a perfect environment for mold & mildew growth. I remember going to my grandmother’s house and always being hit with the smell of bleach. She was constantly cleaning and beating back the mold. We are lucky that this isn’t a part of our lives any longer. Now, we just let the HVAC cooling do the work of keeping the humidity balanced so we don’t have all that mold growth. I can’t imagine how much work it would have been to keep that mold & mildew at bay back then. Thankfully, I won’t have to ever learn just how much went into all that.

Mistakes happen.

• That is just part of life and we all have to accept it.

In fact, without failure, there is often no learning or improvement in our lives. That being said, I’m just tired of making huge errors that are so a result of being stupid or stubborn. This is something that I find to be such a character flaw in my make up. I’m generally a decent fellow who does okay and tries to be a good human. However, there are times that I just fail so badly for the most inane reasons. A recent HVAC experience is a great example. Coming home after work to a cozy, warm HVAC controlled house is one of the sweeter things in life to me. I like to just relax a bit in my chair and sort of decompress and let winter rage on outside without me. Not too long ago, I came home to a frigid house. The HVAC would not come on. So, the natural thing to have done would have been to pick up the phone and call the HVAC people. That is not at all what I did. Instead, I decided to see if I could find the problem. Now this is where the stupid comes in. I have zero training in HVAC and know virtually nothing when it comes to how this equipment works. Still, I decided to investigate on my own. In my blundering around, I ended up snapping something off. This finally led me to call the HVAC people as I should have done in the first place. This ordeal cost me several hundred dollars more than if I had called the HVAC people right away.

There is no doubt that just as soon as I start feeling like I kind of have things figured out a bit, life comes along and knocks me down a peg.

The could be true but it doesn’t make it feel any better. I’d rather have my own home and put my feet up in the HVAC and relax and not have to deal with life’s character building lessons. Instead, I am now living in my parent’s basement. Yea, thanks for that bit of character building. This is what happens to someone who spent too much on their education and then has to face the realities of a tough economy. That is definitely the case for me right now. I’m still in an entry level position with my company and can’t really expect a significant raise for a while. So, I was just barely making ends meet having an apartment with a roommate. Then, my car broke down and I had to buy a new one. My company decided to cut my salary by 15 percent because they are trying to be lean to get through this economic downturn. And, my lease came up and my roommate left. This meant I had to give up the apartment with the bad HVAC and move home. Thankfully, my parents are really great and know that this won’t be forever. Actually, it’s kind of nice because my dad and I are fixing up the basement. He and I recently put in a ductless HVAC unit and this has made the basement an actually great space. After this is over and I’m back on my own, my parents will have a great space for guests.

As a group, my family is not exactly a cookie cutter sort of image. It’s not that we are totally out of the norm. It’s just that we are all different types of people. We’re a bunch of individuals who love each other. However, we have different like and dislikes. The fact that none of us can agree on an acceptable HVAC temperature setting is a prime example of that difference. That HVAC thermostat setting has been the impetus for more whining disagreements than I care to honestly recognize. And it really has made me just crazy in the past. However, it’s the winter time that really brings out the HVAC temperature difference. I’m okay with the house being a bit cool. For one, I don’t mind putting on a sweater of wearing socks around the house. Plus, the cooler it is in the house, the less the HVAC furnace is running. And the less that furnace is running, the less I’m going to have to pay in utility bills for our heating comfort. However, there are those in my house who simply go to pieces the second I dial back the HVAC setting a tad. And you would think that some sort of terrible tragedy had befallen them. But they also insist in running around the house in shorts and a t-shirt. Finally, I gave up and had the HVAC people come in to solve this problem. They tweaked the HVAC system so now we have zoned heating & cooling with 6 independent zones so everyone can be comfortable this winter.

There is no doubt that I come home to a show every night.

Once upon a time, I came home to put my feet up in the HVAC and relax a bit after a tough day at work.

Now, I come home to the biggest pet show I could possibly imagine. And it’s right in my house. Well actually, it’s just off the house in an addition my wife and I had put on to accommodate this pet show. When I say pet show, I’m actually referring to the sort of foster home that my wife and daughter are running for lost or abandoned pets. This is something that they sort of just stumbled into. It wasn’t really as much a plan as it was a response to a need. There were a number of pets that were finding their way to our door because my wife and daughter were good at placing them with new owners. The more they did this, the more people showed up with lost and abandoned animals. Eventually, they were overrunning our home and overloading the HVAC. All of that dander and pet hair was choking out the HVAC. The air filter just couldn’t handle all of the debris that was floating through the air due to all of the animals. Plus, I was getting a bit overwhelmed as well. I definitely wanted to support my wife and daughter in this wonderful mission. But, I also wanted to have my house back a bit. That’s when we decided to put on the addition. It has worked out great. And it has its own ductless HVAC unit as well.
