And since it wasn’t particularly cold outside yet, I agreed to let my partner look around for a better price for the up-to-date gas furnace. But a week after she started looking, she found a wholesale website with gas furnaces and A/C parts… They had several peculiar heating systems from last year’s inventory and they were all on sale. My partner ordered an easily nice gas furnace with a high energy efficiency rating. The device arrived a few nights later by UPS. When I found out that my hubby planned to install the device on her own, I put my foot down and disagreed. I was ecstatic to let her find a better price, even though I wanted a professional to install the device properly the first time with no hassle and no waiting. I didn’t want to wait another week while my sweetheart called every place in the neighborhood to find the best price, and I didn’t want my partner to attempt the installation on her own.

Thanks to the pandemic, I was listening to the different noises that come from the Heating and Air Conditioning system. I was able to recognize where the a/c did and did not make a difference. I was also finding the areas that were warmer than others. I knew the only thing I could do was to install zone control, but even that didn’t work. It helped with the heating, but not the a/c. I asked the Heating and Air Conditioning professional if it was possible to add another small a/c system just for the kitchen only. He said it would be possible, but it would easily be best if I just got a window a/c unit. He said it would be cheaper to do it that way plus it would also be more efficient. I thought about what he said and I started looking for a window a/c unit, but I couldn’t find a single one that would fit. I called the Heating and Air Conditioning tech and told him that my dilemma was the fit. He assured me that they had portable a/c units plus window a/c units that would fit in my kitchen. He even came to the house to show me the different types of window and portable a/c units they had in stock. This was very helpful. My kitchen is now cool and comfortable to work and cook in.

He said it would be possible, but it would actually be best if I just got a window air conditioning unit. He said it would be cheaper and it would also be more efficient. I thought about what he said and I gave consideration to purchasing a window air conditioning unit, but I didn’t find one that would properly fit. I called the Heating and Air Conditioning tech and told him that my dilemma was finding a window AC unit to fit. He assured me they had portable air conditioning units and window air conditioning units that would fit in our kitchen. He even came to the house to show me the several different types of window and portable air conditioning units they had in stock.

At first I thought it was because I was a woman, however after a couple months, I realized it was the way they initiated all the new Heating and Air Conditioning technicians. I guess they felt that if you could handle the dirty tasks, you could handle any task that came up. I really learned a lot during that first year at the Heating and Air Conditioning company. I also acquired a lot of confidence in myself. I knew there were some tasks that I excelled at and others that I was good at, however there were some Heating and Air Conditioning techs who did better. I normally didn’t pick and choose specifically which tasks I would take. But, yesterday was an exception. They gave me a condo to go to that only needed a simple air conditioning inspection and repair check. I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck rest on end once I read the address of the future job. I asked if there was something else I could do and let someone else have this task. The dispatcher looked at me oddly. I swallowed and told her that was where my ex-boyfriend lived. He and I split when I refused to give up my plan of being an Heating and Air Conditioning technician. He didn’t believe that a lady should be an Heating and Air Conditioning tech. The kind dispatcher told me she could really find me something else, however it would not be as easy as this one, but that was just fine with me. I smiled and told her thanks.

I assume they felt that if you could handle the dirty jobs, you could handle any job that came up. I learned a lot while in that first year at the Heating, Ventilation and A/C business. I also acquired a lot of confidence in myself. I knew there were some jobs that I excelled at in addition to others that I was okay at. However, there were some HVAC techs who did better. I normally didn’t pick and choose which job I would take, however last month was an exception. They gave me a job at a house to go to that only needed a simple HVAC inspection in addition to a service check. I instantly could feel the hairs on the back of my neck rest on end. I asked if there was something else I could do and just to let someone else have this job. The dispatcher looked at me oddly. I swallowed and then told her that house was where my ex boyfriend lived. He and I split when I refused to give up on the idea of being an Heating, Ventilation and A/C serviceman. He didn’t think a lady should be an HVAC tech, and that it was only a man’s job. Fortunately, the dispatcher told me she could easily find me something else, however it wouldn’t be as easy of a job as this one. I smiled and told her how appreciative I was that she made arrangements for my benefit.

We ended up breaking up when I decided I wanted to be a Heating and Air Conditioning contractor. He didn’t believe in a woman being a Heating and Air Conditioning tech. The dispatcher told me she could genuinely find me something else, however it wouldn’t be as easy as this one. I smiled and told her thanks.
